Quite simply, Broadband is just a term that we use to describe a high speed internet connection.
You may already have an internet connection in your home or business,
with a modem that plugs into your telephone line and ‘dials up’ the
internet.
This sort of service is paid for by the minute, or by hours a month,
and is slow, uneconomical and sometimes very difficult to get
connected.
A Broadband connection is ‘always on’ and is at least ten times
faster than a dial-up connection. This allows you to view the web and
download files more quickly, and is called Broadband because it has a
much larger capacity to send and receive data.
